We established Health Literacy NZ after working in health literacy and adult literacy for many years at Workbase Education Trust until it closed at the end of 2015.

As health systems and services become more sophisticated and complex, they create increasing health literacy demands (skill and knowledge requirements) for individuals and families. We help health organisations and teams look at health literacy from the perspective of reducing complexity and other barriers to access as well as building workforce capability and improving information to help individuals and families better understand and manage their health.

We want to support the growth of a health literate health sector to achieve improved health outcomes for all communities - where health literacy is central to design and delivery, workforce development, and communication with individuals and families.
